On my mind today: Capitalism

On my mind today: Capitalism

I’m thinking about the relationship between capitalism and patriarchy, especially the white male power version we have running on our matrix in this country. Capitalism is a very competitive system. Does capitalism leave room for an individual being satisfied with their success in life? Success is so often described and measured in terms of continuously accumulating wealth and status symbols. Investors aren’t satisfied with the increase in earnings they got last year, they want to see an increase this year as well.

In order for an individual to be of interest to Capitalism, they have to be an asset. Either a consumer or a producer, and of course, producers are also consumers. If you can’t do one of those things, and can’t do it at an ever increasing rate, you’re not useful.

I’m having a hard time differentiating between capitalism and those who are currently benefiting the most from it. Is capitalism a tool used by white patriarchy or is white patriarchy a tool of capitalism?

This is what’s on my mind today, October 15, 2018.
